Karabella - Well here's my piece on redhead makeup. Let's see if I can make sense of this addiction I have that turns my dresser into cosmetic mountain.
First off, foundation. I am very fair, but have a yellow undertone to my skin. There are a lot of companies out there that make great foundation formulations, but never seem to get the color right, especially when it comes to redheads. Jerks. IF you can afford it, and it is pricy, try Vincent Longo Water Canvas foundation in the lightest shade, its wonderful. You can get it at sephora.com. Prescriptives is also great and is known for their exact match foundations. It's in department stores, but can also be found at gloss.com. Mac Studio Tech Foundation is great and similar formulation to Water Canvas and not quite as expensive ( I use NW15).
For eyes: FYI: My hair is the deeper variety of copper red. My eyes are a jade/army green to blue-green. I am currently using black definicils mascara by lancome (bad Kara)..But when I look for a more "natural" mascara, here are the companies that carry red shades: Bobbi Brown, Max Factor, L'oreal, and of course JFR. Chanel carries some jewel toned mascara that would also look pretty on redheads.
For shadow: Anything with golden tones, shimmery, autumny colors I love. Venus and Fire are good singles from Prescriptives. L'oreal, Lancome, and Chanel always carry good color quad/trio shadow collections for redheads. Use a light golden or coppery shimmery shadow just in the center of the eye. It will make it "pop." Currently I'm using L'oreal Brow Colorist pencil in Light Auburn. I personally don't like brow powder, makes my eyebrows look bushy.
If you are addicted to shimmer Mac makes Mac pigment, which is super concentrated and lasts forever. I use Pink Opal and Melon. My eyes are I guess what you would call "hooded". So i don't rim my entire eye with liner. Just the top. Otherwise I would scare people. Rimmel and Prestige carry some liquid and pencil liners in bronze shades that are nice.
Warm, terracotta blushes are nice. But I also like Nars blush in "orgasm" and "sin".....they are nice light shimmery shades, very angelic...and no I didn't make up those names.
I have too many lipsticks to name. But here are a few good ones. Mac frost lipsticks in "O" and "3-D", and Lip glass stain in "infrared wood"...Mac has a lot shades that have a lot of depth and shimmer to them, and you can never forget Mac's all important "spice" lipliner. It goes with everything. Fresh (on sephora.com) has a nice lip gloss in "amber" that is very clean looking. They also have a yummy fragrance called lucia an orange chocolat scent...yes i know that has nothing to do with makeup.
This also has nothing to do with makeup. But I love AVEDA! IF you want to kick up your natural color, but don't want to any permanent commitment, try their madder root shampoo and conditioner. Really makes the color rich and great and is subtle enhancement, and washes out in a couple shampoos when you get sick of it. If you go to an aveda salon, they also carry purescriptives shampoo and conditioner. You can customer blend what "tones" you want in your product. For example: red, gold, light copper, deep copper, red brown, etc. It's great stuff and is also only a subtle enhancement. They have a website(aveda.com), but I recommend you go to the salon to get the puresriptives so your sure of what the colors look like.
FYI!!!! Revlon has a new collection called amber blaze. It's probably limited edition so hurry and get a few lipsticks. They're yummy golden ambery autumn shades perfect for redheaded goddesses
I will shut my mouth now. And you can probably tell I shop too much on the internet.
Here's some good places to waste your money on the internet.
gloss.com(carries chanel, prescriptives, bobbi brown, stila, origins, estee lauder, and MAC)
lancome.com
sephora.com(carries everything but the kitchen sink)
